Start with the KP or KK family and the complete model

For an industrial rectifier, current and voltage in the part number are only the starting point. The catalogue lists KP phase-control thyristors and KK fast thyristors in separate capsule-type tables. Identify the complete model, then check its family table, outline and circuit requirements. Similar appearance or current ratings do not establish interchangeability.

Read the current and voltage columns together

Rows such as KP1200A and KK1000A describe current families and list a VDRM/VRRM voltage range. For a product such as KP1200A1600V, check the voltage grade of the complete model. The family range does not give every individual device the highest voltage in that range.

Average on-state current, RMS current and system load current are not interchangeable. Supply the circuit topology, current waveform, conduction angle and cooling conditions for comparison. A single ampere rating does not determine rectifier output capability, and device blocking voltage is not an allowable AC supply voltage.

Check triggering and fast turn-off separately

The KP and KK catalogue notes specify IGT, VGT and IH at 25°C; other parameters follow the stated junction-temperature conditions unless noted otherwise. Include gate-driver output, current pulses and operating temperature in the enquiry: these test values are not a complete gate-driver specification. The KK table also lists turn-off time tq. Check it against the actual commutation conditions rather than converting it alone into a guaranteed equipment frequency.

Distinguish clamping force from torque and thermal resistance

The mounting column uses kN for clamping force, not N·m for bolt torque; the numbers cannot be substituted. Check the model's force range, outline, contact surfaces and clamp instructions. Rth(j-hs) describes the junction-to-heatsink path, not the total heatsink-to-ambient resistance. A recommended heatsink model is a starting point for verification, not a temperature-rise guarantee. Losses, contact conditions, airflow or water-cooling conditions still need confirmation.

Prepare these five items before requesting a quotation

  • Complete model, nameplate or original-device photos, quantity and replacement or new-design purpose.
  • Circuit topology, supply and device voltages, current waveform, conduction angle and duty cycle.
  • Gate-driver information, operating temperature and commutation requirements for fast thyristors.
  • Outline and mounting space, clamp requirements, heatsink model and actual cooling conditions.
  • Surge and protection conditions, equipment, final end use and destination country.

Move from the catalogue to a specific model

The linked KP1500A1000V and KP1200A1600V refer to the KP catalogue page; KK1000A2000V and KK1200A1600V refer to the KK page. Open the product pages below in this language to review verified parameters before an email enquiry. These links establish document relationships, not mutual compatibility, stock, price, delivery or export permission. ST and Infineon references explain general parameters; they do not replace Fuzheng model-specific data.
